Downtown's Future
Downtown Durham has seen incredible growth and change since the last master plan was established 23 years ago.
To meet this progress and adapt to new challenges, DDI has launched the Downtown Durham Blueprint: 2035.
This new plan aims to preserve downtown’s unique character while supporting continued growth and development.
The plan was officially adopted by the City of Durham and Durham County in January of 2026.
Upcoming Key Dates
As we continue through the process of our Downtown Durham Blueprint: 2035, please note the following dates:
- Jan. 2026: Blueprint officially adopted by the City of Durham
- Feb. 2026: Begin rolling out execution matrix
- April 2026: State of Downtown Durham
